HFO overflow air vent pipe.

Are you going to receive bunkers HFO at next port of call? Have you ever imagine that during all the preparations you usually make before bunkering, the most important thing that you have to do, is to check maybe the HFO overflow air vent pipe if it is blocked? 

During bunkering, the fuel that is entering the storage tks, releases gases which are guided out to the overflow tk through the air vent pipe.

A blocked air vent pipe, after the procedure of the bunkering, when it is completed, is going to lead you to wrong calculations of the amount of the fuel that you have received,

 

because the blocked air ven pipe does not let the gases to be vented to the overflow tk, with result the pressure that is generated inside the storage tks after bunkering, to make hard to measure correctly the quantity of fuel inside the tanks.
